Insolvency figures highlight need for task force - Purvis

12.01.24am GMT Fri 6th Feb 2009

Jeremy Purvis MSPCommenting on a PricewaterhouseCoopers publication showing that the number of Scottish businesses becoming insolvent has risen by 69 per cent in the last year, Liberal Democrat Finance spokesperson Jeremy Purvis MSP said:

"These figures reveal that the finance sector has been one of the hardest hit in the last year. This proves that Liberal Democrats were right to secure a commitment from the Scottish Government to look at establishing a Financial Sector Jobs Task Force.

"This new task force must work with FiSAB to support and protect workers and businesses in the financial sector against the threat of widespread job losses as a result of insolvency."
